April 23rd 2008, France’s “crème de la crème” of innovation and venture capital flocked together on the grounds of Sorbonne University in Paris for the annual Capital-IT conference.
Each year this event gives twenty pre-selected, innovative companies from France - and beyond - the opportunity to take the stage and present their business case to venture capitalist and prospective partners.
This year the conference attendees were introduced to Aventiv and NomaDesk, one of the Best Innov 2008 winners… that came from beyond!
On Saturday, April 12, 2008, we will be releasing an important update to the NomaDesk software installed on your PC.This includes some key system-level changes, as well as a number of important new features, many suggested by you! Here are just a few of the changes we think will make your experience with NomaDesk even better.
Interaction between the Dashboard, your workspaces and the NomaDesk web servers has been dramatically improved to optimize CPU and software performance.
The web interface for your NomaDesk Account has been expanded to give you more options for managing your workspaces and your account information.
An entirely new Account Management System has been added so we can provide you even faster and more personalized help, when you need it.
Also note that this update requires us to take our host servers offline this Saturday, April 12 for two hours, starting at 12:00 (noon) Central European Time.
Additionally, the many new features, performance improvements and increased security make this a required update. Following the release, you will be prompted to accept the 2.3 update before gaining further access to your NomaDesk workspaces.
For a complete list of the new features included in NomaDesk 2.3, click here. And, as always, if you encounter any difficulties or just have questions about this update, contact our customer satisfaction team.
Today TechWeb disclosed this year’s 14 Innovation Showcase winners and… Aventiv is with them!
The Innovation Showcase spotlights innovators in the enterprise software industry. The winning companies were selected by Sand Hill Group and have the opportunity to make formal presentations at the Software 2008 Conference at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on April 29-30.
Consider this to be a kind invitation to meet our CEO and CMO on April 29th from 3.45PM to 4PM at INTEROP - Software 2008 in Las Vegas.
March 19th, the Belgian Association of E-Commerce Vendors elected, for the third year, Belgium’s finest in e-Commerce. Somewhat to our own surprise we were granted the gold medal in the business-to-business category. What was even more surprising, we were sharing the honour with www.dell.be (i.e., ex aequo). David and Goliath, sharing the stage so to speak!
Aventiv just got awarded the 2008 Silver European Seal of eExcellence, rewarding ICT and digital media players with excellent track record in product innovation and international marketing. We see this as a recognition for the effort we put in the development of NomaDesk as a best-of-class file-sharing groupware solution, without the hindrance of an intranet or hardware servers. The Virtual File Network technology on which NomaDesk is based, enabled us to provide a seamless, single point of secure, synchronized and shared file storage.

Test the NomaDesk Virtual File Network (VFN) story to booth visitors and prospective partners
Our presence led us to compile a vision on how NomaDesk can better serve the market of the Nomadic professional.
Though, most incumbent mobile service providers are focused on delivering iPhone-like appliances to consumers, who – as it appears from what was put on display – have an appetite for ringtones and mobile gaming, we expect a growing interest in businesses applications for “prosumers”. We believe there may be valuable opportunities for Virtual File Networking services, as provided through NomaDesk, in the very near future.
We also attracted a significant number of booth visitors, who consistently acknowledged the value and uniqueness of the NomaDesk proposition.
From March 5th until the 7th Aventiv will be present at CeBIT, Europe’s largest ICT Fair. You are welcome to visit us in Hal 6, booth A54.
NomaDesk provides you with the tools to help your team work virtually. But how do you build a cohesive team when you never or rarely are in the same room?
Create an internal ‘Facebook’ page for each team member.
Make certain you include all the professional information such as jobs, skills and education. Also include the informal information that helps to connect people across geographies: hobbies, family, favorite place to vacation, favorite saying, how s/he wants to be remembered. Have fun with getting to know one another and celebrate the similarities and diversity. Your team will grow stronger together.
Conduct a virtual retreat.
If you cannot bring the team together in one location because of budget constraints, schedule time to be together virtually. A video meeting where you talk about team goals, team agreements, and get to know one another can help the team bond and build trusting relationships.
Develop team agreements What is the turnaround expected for responding to emails or voicemails? What is confidential? Who needs to be copied on emails? Who does not need to be copied? What are the consequences when a team member does not meet deadlines or expectations? These are a few agreements a cohesive team needs to work out.
Rotate virtual meeting times so the burden of waking up early or staying up late is spread across the time zones.
Distribute an agenda and any information a few days before a team meeting so everyone can come prepared. This is particularly important for those for whom English is a second language.
Rotate the role of meeting facilitator so everyone has an opportunity to contribute to the team. Make it a habit to evaluate each meeting so the team can continuously improve. The evaluation can take only a minute focusing on what worked and what did not work and can be improved?
